Healthy Start Home Visitation

Every mom and family can benefit from the Healthy Start Home Visiting program, which offers one-on-one support from a friendly, knowledgeable visitor in a location convenient for the family.

Our home visitors help expectant mothers understand how their bodies will change during pregnancy, what to expect during labor and delivery, how to plan for future pregnancies, and how best to care for babies during those precious early years.

Spending time with a Healthy Start home visitor is like spending time with a trusted friend. These visits help ensure that both the mother and baby are healthy, safe, bonding well, and that the baby is meeting important developmental milestones.

Nurse-Family Partnership

First-time moms can be matched with specially trained nurses through our Nurse-Family Partnership, starting early in pregnancy and continuing through the child's second birthday.

Moms receive the care and support they need to have a healthy pregnancy and confident start to parenthood. Each nurse becomes a trusted resource, offering guidance on everything from safely caring for their child to taking steps to provide a stable, secure future for their new family.

Each visit lasts about 60 to 90 minutes. To learn what to expect from each visit, click the button below.

Need Help or Have Questions?

Diaper Pantry

Babies need diapers - but they're an expense that can be hard on some families.

Our Diaper Pantry provides diapers and other essential supplies to families with children under the age of three through our community partners and home visitation programs.

Last year, Martin County Healthy Start Coalition distributed nearly 194,000 diapers to local families!

Ellie's Boutique

Babies need a lot of stuff! At Ellie's Boutique, we gather many of the basic items that babies and growing families need - baby clothes, maternity wear, Pack 'n Plays, car seats and more - and offer them, depending on inventory, at no cost.

Ellie's Boutique is named after Ellie Duell, a dedicated volunteer who later became a staff member and served our organization for 15 years. Families would on occasion bring in clothes their babies had outgrown, and Ellie would carefully sort and pack them to give to others in need. After Ellie retired, we transformed our former conference room into a space where families could pick the clothing they wanted for their babies. It only made sense to name it after Ellie.

Car Seats

Choosing the right car seat and installing it correctly is essential for your baby's safety. Our trained team is here to help moms make sure their baby's car seat is safely and securely installed.

Sleep Safety

Sudden Unexpected Infant Death Syndrome (SUIDS) and unsafe sleep practices are among the leading causes of infant death.

In partnership with Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital, we provide training in infant CPR and safe sleep practices. Mothers, fathers, grandparents, and other caregivers are welcome to participate.

Childbirth & Parenting Education

Babies are amazingly complex, and they don't come with instruction manuals!

Our skilled, compassionate educators work with expectant parents to explore practical ways to care for their babies, take care of themselves, and become the parents they want to be.

Parenting Education & Support Topics

  • Preparing to bring your baby home
  • Caring for your newborn
  • Understanding your baby's growth and development
  • Learning ways to play and bond with your baby
